In addition to the two dial-in packages (the Communications Package and the Web
Presence Package), there are several
direct Internet connection options available starting from a 256K connection.
In addition, there are a variety of enhanced services to choose from.

Product Descriptions
The Communications Dial-in Package is all you need to get your Township
online! It includes five individual accounts for Township users.
Each account includes:
Dial-in Internet access — A local phone call in Michigan
provides you with a connection to the Internet.
E-mail — Allows you to send and receive e-mail using the e-mail
program of your choice.
Alternate access to e-mail via a web browser — If your travels
take you somewhere else in the region, state or world, or just to your home computer, as long as you
can access the Internet you can keep in touch using web-based e-mail. It provides a convenient,
easy way to access your mail from your favorite web browser. Web based e-mail is quick and easy,
there's no need to install additional software or change configuration settings. Open your favorite
browser, enter our website address, sign in and you've got e-mail!
Technical support via phone or e-mail — Contact Merit's
world-class support team via either phone or e-mail. Team members are thoroughly trained
and customer focused. They define success in terms of customer satisfaction.
24 x 7 Network Operations
Center — Merit's Network Operations Centers monitors your e-mail and
web services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We proactively intercept and resolve rare
problems before they impact your users. In the rare case of a system outage, we'll contact
your designated technical support person with the news and provide information on the
anticipated return to service.
The enhanced Web Presence Package includes everything in the
Communications Package plus:
Web server with 50 MB of disk space — You concentrate on developing the
content and look and feel of your website. Merit provides the hardware, software, technical know
how and support to keep it up and running 24 x7. The web server includes a private
cgi-bin directory for adding functionality and features to your website.
Additional e-mail account for the webmaster.
Michigan Townships operating their own Local Area Network (LAN) can
connect to the Internet with a MichNet dedicated connection.
Connections are made using one of several technologies, including: private line
digital data circuits, frame relay circuits, and ISDN circuits. Dedicated
connections are available at speeds of:
256,000 bps (256K bps)
512,000 bps (512K bps)
768,000 bps (768K bps)
1,500,000 bps (T1 or 1.5M bps)
3,000,000 bps (2 x T1 or 3.0M bps)
Other speeds available upon request
If your need for connectivity grows, we can easily accommodate any new users you want to add to
your
township's online services package. The annual fee for each additional user is $180 per year with a
one time set up charge of $10 per user.
Listservs provide the ability to target e-mail communication on a relevant topic only to
those who have voluntarily chosen to participate. Based on your needs, MI-TWP Online
Services can create mailing lists tailored to your communication needs. Choices include a
public list where anyone can subscribe and post messages; or a private list that includes
only approved members and only accepts messages from list members. There is an annual fee
of $25 per list.
Every Township
subscribing to the Web Presence Package automatically receives a unique domain name in the
format mytownship.mi-twp.org. We can provide domain name service and support for any
additional domain names you purchase or transfer. There is a one-time charge of $75 for
the initial domain name service setup and configuration. The annual fee for administration
of each additional domain name is only $25.
As your website grows we can provide you with any additional disk space you need. Disk space is
available in 50MB increments for $120 per year.
