Get Your Township Online

Community building depends on effective and timely communication. The Michigan Townships Online Services package provides the means for any Michigan Township government to foster a strong relationship with its residents. Through the development of your Township website you can keep citizens informed about current services, public meetings, important events, and ongoing planning initiatives. The website can provide residents with convenient 24 hour, seven day a week access to frequently requested forms and documents. E-mail accounts for Township officers ensure citizens have a reliable and effective means for contacting their local officials. E-mail gives local officials a quick and inexpensive tool for personalized communication with their constituents. It provides officials with an easy way to communicate and share information with colleagues across the state. Internet access provides the Township office with ready access to the global storehouse of resources, knowledge and contacts available through a simple search with a web browser.

Merit Network, Inc. can provide your Township with Internet access for as little as $56.25 per Township. Sound expensive? Actually, the $56.25 per month will provide five Township board members or employees with e-mail and Internet access for about what it costs for only one person with other Internet Service Providers. For only $6.25 more per month Townships can also get 50 megabytes of server space to publish their own website, excellent technical support available via phone or e-mail and 24 hour, seven day a week monitoring of their web server and e-mail services by Merit's Network Operations Center. In addition, Merit will help register the Township with the United States Domain Registry and acquire that domain name on behalf of the Township. Merit will then set up Township-based web servers for publishing each Township website.

Communications Package

For $56.25 per month* your Township receives:

Five user accounts with dial-in Internet access. Township officials can connect to the Internet from the Township office, their homes, or virtually anywhere in Michigan using the MichNet Dial-in network.
Five e-mail accounts. Each dial-in account comes with a personal e-mail address that includes the township name (username@your-township.mi-twp.org, or your Township domain name).

For five users, this is just $11.25 per user per month!

Web Presence Package

For $62.50 per month* your Township receives:

Five user accounts with dial-in Internet access.
Five e-mail accounts.

A Township website. Build your own website, and Merit will provide you with 50MB of disk space and a Township URL. Use your Township webmaster account to FTP files to your Township website and view usage statistics.

Only $12.50 per user per month provides Internet access, e-mail, and a web presence!
